Momentum
Creation 2026/2027 - Premiere 2027
This project is a contemporary circus production by artist Julia Gut, combining static trapeze and floor acrobatics to explore the dynamic interplay between these two elements. The show centers around the concept of “the space in between”—physically, thematically, and metaphorically.
Using a free standing rig and a spring floor, Momentum is an explosive and high-energy performance that seamlessly connects trapeze and floor acrobatics. At the heart of the project lies the exploration of transitions: the dismount from the trapeze, the leap back, and the dynamic movements that physically connect aerial and ground acrobatics.
Inspired by the Japanese concept of “Ma”—the meaningful void or negative space that defines balance and contrast—the performance delves into the tension and harmony that arise in the spaces between opposites. In a world increasingly polarised by extremes “Exploring the Space In Between” offers a timely reflection on the connections and possibilities that lie between them. Momentum invites audiences to pause, observe, and embrace the in-between moments where meaning is often found.
The show is designed to be performed primarily in outdoor spaces, with a flexible indoor version available for theatres. Presenting the performance outdoors not only enhances accessibility but also reduces economic barriers, allowing audiences from diverse backgrounds to engage with high-quality contemporary circus art.
With a runtime of approximately 30 minutes, the show strikes a balance between artistic depth and accessibility, making it especially suitable for families with children while retaining its conceptual richness.
